My name is Anna Sciacca.
Long before I moved to Tuscany, there was already a special connection to Italy. My father came from Sicily, and although my life took place in Germany, Italian culture, language, food and family values were always part of my story. Perhaps it was exactly this connection that eventually grew into the desire not just to visit this country, but to truly arrive here. When I discovered the Maremma, I quickly knew that this was a special place. The vastness of the landscape, the closeness to nature and the warmth of the people captivated me immediately.

That's exactly how it was for me with the Maremma. Between gentle hills, vineyards, olive groves and the nearby coast lies one of the most authentic regions of Tuscany. Here, it's not only the landscape but also the people, their hospitality and their connection to nature that shape everyday life. Mustiaio is located near the historic Roselle, just a few minutes from Grosseto. From here, you can discover the most beautiful sides of the Maremma. Vast landscapes, centuries-old olive groves, nature parks, beaches and medieval villages define this unique region.

The story of Mustiaio began more than a hundred years ago, when Andrea’s maternal great-grandfather first brought agriculture into the family, farming the neighboring estate “Il Marruchetone.”
Towards the end of the 1970s, Gino Savio – a brilliant engineer from Rome, and Andrea’s father – married Annamaria, the great-grandfather’s granddaughter, and purchased a piece of land covered in rocks and Mediterranean scrubland. Among the wild bushes growing there was the “mustio” plant, which gave the farm its name: Mustiaio.
This bare, rugged stretch of hillside turned out to be the perfect setting for vineyards, olive groves and the breeding of Maremmano horses. What began as untamed land was, step by step, transformed into a place shaped by generations of dedication.
Il Mustiaio produced its first own wines in 2006, following decades of experience growing grapes for others – marking the beginning of its own small, modern winery.
Today, that century of history continues to shape everything we do: a place where tradition, family and the land itself remain deeply connected.
